Writing Titles for Review Videos

How to signal a real verdict, avoid empty hype words, and match how comparison shoppers actually search.

Review titles have one job most other formats don't: signaling that an actual opinion or verdict exists inside, not just a description. "Product X Review" is functional but generic — the strongest review titles preview what makes this particular verdict worth watching.

Preview the angle, not just the format word

"Review" alone tells viewers the format but nothing about the take. Adding a specific angle — a surprising result, a clear recommendation, a specific use case — gives them a reason to pick your review over the dozens of others covering the same product.

Define your own scope for comparative claims

"Best" claims work far better when scoped honestly: "Best Budget Tripod for Travel" is specific and defensible; "Best Tripod" invites the obvious question "best for what?" and best compared to what alternatives.

Common review title formats

  • Direct: "[Product] Review: [Specific Angle]"
  • Time-tested: "[Product] After 3 Months: Still Worth It?"
  • Value-focused: "Is [Product] Worth the Price?"
  • Use-case-specific: "[Product] for [Specific Use Case]: Full Review"

Avoid hype words that dodge the verdict

"You Have to See This Review" describes nothing about your actual opinion. Viewers looking for a review usually want to know your take before clicking, at least in broad strokes — the strongest review titles aren't afraid to hint at the verdict itself.

Sponsored or gifted-product reviews should stay just as specific and honest in the title as any other — vague, overly positive titles are often what triggers skepticism about undisclosed sponsorship, regardless of whether one exists.
